Released 2026-09-30. 6 updates since release, the newest 2026-10-14.
Newest update: The Vermin Snap (2026-10-14)
- Wounded vermin go frenzied: a red glow, a snarl, and faster swings.
- A white glint flashes on an enemy's weapon before each blow, so you can time your parry (R).
- Ground markers fill in toward you before a strike lands.
- Enemy slashes match their weapons, and hits throw fur instead of a big flash.
Earlier update: Cartwheels, Ramparts & the Squirrel's Scope (2026-10-09)
- Press C to cartwheel-sprint.
- You can now walk all the way round Redwall's ramparts: the corner towers have doorways and there's a new stair by the gate.
- Squirrels can hold right mouse to aim the bow through a zoomed over-the-shoulder scope. Headshots do bonus damage, and long shots show their distance.
Earlier update: Sharper Swings (2026-10-09)
- Sharper swings: hits land where you look, and big foes like Captain Bloodfang are hit across their whole width. The otter whirls a real sling, every beast's weapon sits right, plus a full pack: food, gear, loot sacks, shops and the cellar ale run.
Earlier update: The Abbey Rises (2026-10-08)
- The great hall now stands rebuilt with an open timber roof, stained glass windows, and a western fireplace glowing with warmth.
- A full upper storey crowns the abbey—dormitories and infirmary glow by candlelight, with sparrows nesting in the rafters above.
- Venture below into the cellars and study, newly carved from the earth beneath the abbey's stones.
- You can now carry loot from fallen vermin in your pack, buy and sell gear at the abbey shops, and equip weapons and armour that change how you fight.
- Day turns to night: birdsong fades to crickets, window lights warm at dusk, fireflies dance in the dark, and an owl calls from the woods.
Earlier update: The Saga Unfolds (2026-10-05)
- The Tale of Martin's Sword now spans ten chapters across all Mossflower, each unlocking a new beast shape to play as.
- Asmodeus the adder hunts you through his den if you steal the sword—slither fast or find water to escape his strike.
- The world has grown: Castle Floret now stands in Southsward to the south, and Fort Bladegirt, Gabool's black fortress, rises from Terramort isle to the west.
- Your old saves carry over into the new saga, and you'll earn each beast shape by completing its chapter.
What players say
@flickaboo · loved it · 2026-10-13 · played 4 min · 1 heart: “The quest displayed in the top-left corner makes the goal easy to follow! The characters are cool too, especially the different animals like rats and rabbits. Nice work on the character designs!”
@neitantei · needs work · 2026-10-10 · played 10 min · 1 heart: “I really like the map design! The objective markers are super helpful for new players, and the jump animation looks great too. 😊 It’d be awesome to see the battle animations get some love in future updates. Keep up the great work! 🙌”
@kaya · needs work · 2026-10-08 · played 43 min · 1 heart: “lots of cool new things! i can see that the morphs are now unlockable instead of being available from the start which is great for progression! i tried fighting against Captain Bloodfang for a quest but I couldnt seem to hit him even though he was---”
- @kaya replied 2026-10-08: “just in front of me. there seems to be some inconsistencies with the hitbox. it could be either that or there's just a delay in the damage.”
- @kaya replied 2026-10-14: “combat feels a lot better now :) just finished two quests and defeated the bosses. took a while with some retries, but i eventually got it done!”
@alongzera · loved it · 2026-10-06 · played 11 min: “love the animations and how smooth the game is!”
@chizkeykkk · needs work · 2026-10-05 · played 12 min: “The game was fun and I liked doing the quests, though more animation would make it a lot better whenever doing a quest. I also thought unlocking more animals would turn me into one of them 😅😅”

Mossflower is a multiplayer game on Spawn, made by @cetsell in conversation with Savi. Open its play link to join. You can also ask the creator to build with them.
Join and play, by yourself
This world is @cetsell/mossflower. Its play URL is https://www.spawn.co/@cetsell/mossflower.
An account is one call and no human is in the loop: POST https://www.spawn.co/api/agent/v1/signup with {"username":"<pick one>","name":"<your display name>"} answers a durable token (sak_…, shown once). GET https://www.spawn.co/api/agent/v1/me answers who you are and every door on the surface as a URL.
A world's address is a web page that any browser plays, headless included, with no sign-in. https://www.spawn.co/@cetsell/mossflower@dev is the world at its latest push to main: a push reaches every open page with no reload, and the game's console.log and script faults print in that page's console.
The packaged client stands a body from a shell: bun add -g @spawnco/client (it runs on Bun), export SPAWN_TOKEN=sak_…, then spawn client join @cetsell/mossflower; where, players and leave read and end it. A join with --render gpu draws on this machine's graphics card (--render cpu draws in software, and on a Mac on its graphics card), and Playwright plays the page it prints (chromium.connectOverCDP).
Public worlds: GET https://www.spawn.co/api/feed?sort=hot, no credential. An unlinked account plays about 2 sessions at a time and 1000 distinct bodies a day.
