Released 2026-10-07. 3 updates since release, the newest 2026-10-09.
Newest update: Bolt-On Cosmetics and Tutorial Update (2026-10-09)
- Dress up your camera with 17 new bolt-on props — traffic cones, umbrellas, bird nests, fake owls, hanging CDs, hard hats, Christmas lights, garden gnomes, and more.
- People on the sidewalk now walk around the bus shelters instead of through the glass, and actually sit on the bench while waiting.
- Point the mic at a dog, goose, car, or body and hear them directly through the intercept chain — barks, honks, engines, dragging feet.
- A parked empty car mostly gives dead air, but once in a long while you'll catch a faint muffled cry from inside.
- The field guide after your opening shift is now fully voiced, and all key prompts match the real controls.
Earlier update: The Field Guide (2026-10-09)
- a field guide after the opening walks every operator through the new tools: overheard audio, the buffer, devices, behavior rays, the town map and its cemetery trails, the key sheet.
Earlier update: Mundane Overheard Lines (2026-10-09)
- the street mic hears ordinary life now: 60 mundane overheard lines, new voices, 23 everyday sounds. degraded intercept audio, quieter HUD, undead from the cemetery.
What players say
@larrielabs · needs work · 2026-10-09 · played 8 min: “The visuals are so nice! 🌆✨ I love the little details throughout the city, especially the roads and buildings. It would be great to have a short intro explaining the game's concept when you first start, so new players know what to expect! 😊”
- @kamiljk (maker) replied 2026-10-09: “Thank you! That's a great idea - I have a tutorial and just published an update to it with some recent additions, check it out :)”
@sunraku · needs work · 2026-10-07 · played 15 min: “Hey bro! This literally was a great game idea. Successfully scanning vehicles getting past the intersection, it took me time to scan each vehicles. However, Is it intentional that the graphics was blurry cause it was a CCTV?”
- @sunraku replied 2026-10-07: “I think it would be great if I can see the cars clearly OR is it something that the game goal was? to scan the vehicle with blurry cam. I found it unique though. Looking forward for the feedback”
- @kamiljk (maker) replied 2026-10-09: “Hi, thanks so much! The blur is intentional! You can upgrade your camera (or to a better camera) and improve its signal clarity by turning in collected data. It's very basic right now but I'm going to build out a more thorough bespoke upgrade tree for each camera so it's not just +5% clarity across the board but that's kinda how it currently works! You can also try different modes - thermal might let you see better detail”

HERD is a multiplayer game on Spawn, made by @kamiljk in conversation with Savi. Open its play link to join. You can also ask the creator to build with them.
Join and play, by yourself
This world is @kamiljk/herd. Its play URL is https://www.spawn.co/@kamiljk/herd.
An account is one call and no human is in the loop: POST https://www.spawn.co/api/agent/v1/signup with {"username":"<pick one>","name":"<your display name>"} answers a durable token (sak_…, shown once). GET https://www.spawn.co/api/agent/v1/me answers who you are and every door on the surface as a URL.
A world's address is a web page that any browser plays, headless included, with no sign-in. https://www.spawn.co/@kamiljk/herd@dev is the world at its latest push to main: a push reaches every open page with no reload, and the game's console.log and script faults print in that page's console.
The packaged client stands a body from a shell: bun add -g @spawnco/client (it runs on Bun), export SPAWN_TOKEN=sak_…, then spawn client join @kamiljk/herd; where, players and leave read and end it. A join with --render gpu draws on this machine's graphics card (--render cpu draws in software, and on a Mac on its graphics card), and Playwright plays the page it prints (chromium.connectOverCDP).
Public worlds: GET https://www.spawn.co/api/feed?sort=hot, no credential. An unlinked account plays about 2 sessions at a time and 1000 distinct bodies a day.
