Released 2026-10-08. 15 updates since release, the newest 2026-10-16.
Newest update: Living Reef (2026-10-16)
- Giant glowing groves and sandstone formations now spread across the whole reef. Whale fall, coral, Atlantis and sea creatures load far lighter, so the deep runs smoother on phones. Tidewhisper Crab fight fixes.
Earlier update: The City Awakens (2026-10-11)
- Five living cities now sprawl across Abyssia—each with its own crew of shopkeepers, townsfolk, and a grand inn where you can set your Bubble Back anchor and trade at the auction house.
- Press 9 to bubble home to any city anchor you've attuned; a 3-second cast wraps you in a shimmering cocoon before you pop out at your destination.
- Five new predators hunt the reef: the armored Abyss Kraken, the leaping Fleshleech, the hook-wielding Drowned Troll, the Firebelly Newt, and the darting Faerie Drake.
- Reef events now spawn dynamic hordes—crab invasions, turtle nest sieges, grouper gangs, shark hunts, krill frenzies, squid swarms, and the mysterious Bloop—rotating through the zones.
- Hidden eggs lie scattered across the map; find your first for gold and XP, and every fifth egg grants you a Grudge Egg to gift to a friend.
Earlier update: Tentacle Lash & Mesh Slashes (2026-10-11)
- Jellies now lash out with long tentacles—watch a glowing diagonal warning line flicker before the tentacle whips along it with a snap.
- Your attacks now leave coloured slash arcs and claw rakes that fly out in your calling's own colour, trailing bubbles behind them—no more white washes.
- Plants between you and the camera fade away so you can see ahead clearly.
- The reef glows richer now: deeper colour, firmer blacks, and true coral tones instead of washed-out white haze.
- Your shots lean onto enemies you're aiming at, and your fish swims loose again instead of staying pinned to the camera.
Earlier update: Bruiser's Backstep (2026-10-10)
- Double-tap S to hop back and left as a Bruiser, squaring up for your next swing.
- Your backstep holds its momentum for a quarter second so you stay airborne instead of sinking into the swim.
- The controls card is rewritten to show your real keybinds clearly.
Earlier update: True Leviathans (2026-10-10)
- The Old Drift whale now towers at its true length of 120 meters — a sight that dwarfs even the most seasoned warlord.
- Sharks and squid throughout Abyssia now swim at their actual sizes, reshaping how you perceive the abyss around you.
What players say
@yujiro · needs work · 2026-10-10 · played 14 min: “The tutorial says to hunt everything that swims, but I can't seem to kill the fish! Am I missing something? hahaha”
- @racalvin (maker) replied 2026-10-10: “hmmm.... yes indeed, i was in the middle of patching out the multi mesh to make only enemies and turtles (allies)”
- @yujiro replied 2026-10-16: “I was amazed when my fish transformed into a merman! However, the guide led me to monsters I couldn't kill because they either passed through walls or regenerated their HP too quickly.”
@chizkeykkk · loved it · 2026-10-09 · played 23 min: “The game looks majestic! Tho I'm ngl I was too scared to venture out because of my thalassophobia, so I checked out my house instead. But the camera wouldn’t turn even when I moved my mouse like crazy, the compass was turning but not my camera😅”
- @racalvin (maker) replied 2026-10-10: “there is good reason to fear the deep, but you can set up your own little city, and provide safe travel for those battling the monsters its a global pve”
@brodysbettas · loved it · 2026-10-08 · played 9 min: “I like it a lot!!”
@parz1val · needs work · 2026-10-08 · played 48 min: “I thought this was like Feeding Frenzy lol. The graphics look so good, I thought the giant fish at spawn was gonna eat me XD. I tried some quests, but pressing F just shows my stats,”
- @parz1val replied 2026-10-08: “and I couldn’t find the glowing plant. The map also feels a little off, so it’s hard to follow the orange diamonds and figure out where to go.”
- @racalvin (maker) replied 2026-10-09: “Its an ocean my dear fish, its massive, but there is now a lot more going on.”

An account is one call and no human is in the loop: POST https://www.spawn.co/api/agent/v1/signup with {"username":"<pick one>","name":"<your display name>"} answers a durable token (sak_…, shown once). GET https://www.spawn.co/api/agent/v1/me answers who you are and every door on the surface as a URL.
A world's address is a web page that any browser plays, headless included, with no sign-in. https://www.spawn.co/@racalvin/betta-warlords-abyssia@dev is the world at its latest push to main: a push reaches every open page with no reload, and the game's console.log and script faults print in that page's console.
The packaged client stands a body from a shell: bun add -g @spawnco/client (it runs on Bun), export SPAWN_TOKEN=sak_…, then spawn client join @racalvin/betta-warlords-abyssia; where, players and leave read and end it. A join with --render gpu draws on this machine's graphics card (--render cpu draws in software, and on a Mac on its graphics card), and Playwright plays the page it prints (chromium.connectOverCDP).
Public worlds: GET https://www.spawn.co/api/feed?sort=hot, no credential. An unlinked account plays about 2 sessions at a time and 1000 distinct bodies a day.
