what spawn is for (and what it isn't)

the one rule, and the examples of it

November 5, 2026 · @jacob

Spawn is really generous. Every creator gets around $1,000 a day of frontier model tokens and asset generation, free hosting, and live ops so your game scales if it blows up. We do that because we're funding games and worlds that live on Spawn.

That's the whole rule. Everything below is just examples of it.

The test: does this end up as something people play on Spawn? If yes, you're good. If you're using Spawn to make something that lives somewhere else, you're not.

You can

  • Build games, worlds and mods on Spawn. Big, small, weird, solo, with 30 friends. That's what it's for.
  • Generate assets for the stuff you're building here. Models, textures, music, sfx, video, whatever your game needs.
  • Post your Spawn games anywhere. Clips, trailers (Savi makes one when you publish), devlogs, streams. Tag us and link the game. We repost a lot of this.
  • Bring your own AI agent into your world. Have it playtest, play alongside you, or hang out with Savi while you're in the game watching. That's allowed and honestly it's really cute.
  • Leave if you want. Projects are git repos and an outside agent like Claude Code or Codex can pull them.

You can't

  • Use Spawn as a free AI video or asset generator. If your worlds exist to pump out a video series, music videos or art for other places, that's not a Spawn game. We look at usage, and accounts that mostly use Spawn this way get banned.
  • Automate Savi. Your agent talking to Savi while you're in the game is fine. Setting up an agent to keep Savi working all night or for a week is not. If you're not there, it shouldn't be running.
  • Use Savi to build for other engines or platforms. No porting to Roblox, Steam, Unity, etc. And please don't prototype here just to ship the version that works somewhere else. The experimentation is the expensive part, and it's what we're paying for.
  • Make extra accounts to get around a suspension or limits.
  • Rebuild platform features inside your game. No custom login or payments, no unmoderated chat, no duplicate settings that aren't synced with Spawn's.
  • Make content that crosses the line. No hardcore porn, no excessive gore, no games that put hate groups in a positive light.

If you're not sure

Ask before you start. Post in the Discord and the team will tell you. We would much rather answer a question than suspend someone.

If you get suspended for abuse of the above, especially using Spawn as a free generator, it won't be overturned.

Now go make something cool. On Spawn.
