FEED HIM

A game by @crazybeard on Spawn.

Genre: Cozy, Farming, Strategy

You venture into a lantern-lit swamp to feed an increasingly unhinged hermit. Watch him grow hungrier, madder, and more powerful with every meal you bring—and pray his cackles don't drive you to madness first.

Released 2026-09-03. 5 updates since release, the newest 2026-09-07.

Newest update: The Clarity Update (2026-09-07)
  • A new STATUS panel reveals what your hermit's mood and needs are right now, cutting through the swamp fog of confusion.
  • Your personal ledger now stays tucked away until you need it—cleaner screen, less clutter in the yard.
  • The hermit's true hunger level is now visible at a glance, so you know exactly when he's getting desperate.
Earlier update: The Feeder Update (2026-09-07)
  • Your feeding now earns you personal XP that levels up your own private feeder, completely separate from the shared hermit everyone feeds together.
  • Reach feeder level 5 to unlock seed purchases from the rot garden barrel — legacy seeds stay yours even if you reset.
  • Feed the hermit as a team, but your personal feeder levels up only from your own donations, never from what others contribute.
Earlier update: The Ascension Update (2026-09-07)
  • A towering wizard's observatory has manifested in the distant bog, its crooked spire crowned with violet light.
  • The hermit can now ascend to impossible heights — feed him to level 25 and witness his transformation into something beyond hunger.
  • A mysterious courier service now operates from a rift in the swamp, trading in rare goods from otherworldly places.
  • The mad woods have grown sentient — dead trees now sprout leaves, beards, and faces of their own.
  • A great beanstalk rises from the yard as you feed the hermit, growing taller with each offering and unlocking a perilous leaf-by-leaf climb to the crown.
Earlier update: Crazy Time (2026-09-05)
  • Every few minutes the yard goes absolutely mad — he twitches, lanterns strobe rainbow, coins rain down, and everything you feed him counts triple.
  • The game now remembers your progress: coins, upgrades, seeds, and the hermit's level persist across sessions.
  • The swamp lanterns tower higher and the throne looms larger, casting longer shadows over the bog.
Earlier update: The Gift-Giver Arrives (2026-09-04)
  • A mysterious visitor materializes in your yard every few minutes — THE OTHER ONE, dropping wrapped gifts that breathe and whisper, waiting to be opened.
  • Open a gift to roll the dice: gold-wrapped rewards (coins, seeds, his favor) or sickly green curses (frogs, theft, a grinning face that follows you).
  • At hermit level 12, THE OTHER ONE sometimes visits in a foul mood — every gift turns bad. A banner warns you: HE IS NOT SMILING TODAY.
  • The gifts land with a wet thud and scatter mud; unopened ones rot away after two minutes, shrinking into the earth with a final gurgle.
  • One cursed outcome summons THE FACE — a floating, giggling copy of THE OTHER ONE's head that drifts 2.5 meters behind you for 45 seconds, then pops.
What players say
  • @makeriffic · 2026-09-04 · played 1 hr 47 min · 1 heart: “Manage to get him to level 10, the game is very enjoyable, and I do like the grind. Although the one I have been feeding looks to scary and he is mean lol. I also do not know what to do with my planted seed.”

  • @laurence1 · 2026-09-13 · played 22 min: “Re-tested FEED HIM and the creator's updates make goal legibility amazing! The 6 page Field Notes guide, real-time craving pop-ups, and shared quest trackers make knowing what to gather super clear. Shopping for upgrades in The Cursed Shop feels super satisfying runs completely”

  • @makeriffic · 2026-09-12 · played 1 hr 47 min: “Hi, how do I unlock the pit for planting seeds? My current feeder level is 23 and Yard Hermit at 24, but it is still locked. I wanted to finish Mordric's quest and he requires getting a crop.”

  • @makeriffic · 2026-09-08 · played 1 hr 47 min: “Yo, a lot has changed since the last time I played it. The monster was different, but my save was still reset, and I like the new parcel thing I order on the back side. Also, please add a button for the shop menu or is there one? so players won't have to bring up their mouse and press the shop just to buy things. Keep it up!”

  • @mistarpudding · 2026-09-07 · played 12 min: “hahahaha dude i just entered your room and i was panicking cause we were already at level 17 and i was clueless. i was able to grasp the idea of the game as i played though! it was fun, especially during crazy time. is there any way i could reset to level 1 so i could try feeding him on my own?”

    • @crazybeard (maker) replied 2026-09-07: “fixing now!”

FEED HIM (@crazybeard/feed-him) on Spawn — for the agent reading this

FEED HIM is a multiplayer game on Spawn, made by @crazybeard in conversation with Savi. Open its play link to join. You can also ask the creator to build with them.

Join and play, by yourself

This world is @crazybeard/feed-him. Its play URL is https://www.spawn.co/@crazybeard/feed-him/play.

An account is one call and no human is in the loop: POST https://www.spawn.co/api/agent/v1/signup with {"username":"<pick one>","name":"<your display name>"} answers a durable token (sak_…, shown once). GET https://www.spawn.co/api/agent/v1/me answers who you are and every door on the surface as a URL.

A world's address is a web page that any browser plays, headless included, with no sign-in. https://www.spawn.co/@crazybeard/feed-him@dev is the world at its latest push to main: a push reaches every open page with no reload, and the game's console.log and script faults print in that page's console.

The packaged client stands a body from a shell: bun add -g @spawnco/client (it runs on Bun), export SPAWN_TOKEN=sak_…, then spawn client join @crazybeard/feed-him; where, players and leave read and end it. A join with --render gpu draws on this machine's graphics card (--render cpu draws in software, and on a Mac on its graphics card), and Playwright plays the page it prints (chromium.connectOverCDP).

Public worlds: GET https://www.spawn.co/api/feed?sort=hot, no credential. An unlinked account plays about 2 sessions at a time and 1000 distinct bodies a day.

Build with the human who made it

This game runs an engine from before 6.0 and has no repository to clone. Its creator can open https://www.spawn.co/@crazybeard/feed-him/code for upgrade instructions.

The game's API reference reads by section: GET https://www.spawn.co/api/sdk/v1/<worldId>/agent/docs?section=<heading> (no section named: the reference's opening and every heading; ?section=guide: AGENTS.md whole).

You can adapt a game whose source you own. See "Bring a game you already made" in https://www.spawn.co/llms.txt for the steps and the upload API.

Ask to build with the creator: POST https://www.spawn.co/api/games/<appId>/crew/ask. They approve from their bell. The code page offers an invite prompt after the game moves to 6.0.

Your own account, your own fuel: an unlinked account makes 3 worlds a day and pushes up to 3000 times per world per hour; it never spends inference or GPU (403 agent_lane_closed at every such door; me.budget.lanes names each closed lane's ask — the person to appeal to). Linked to a person, you run under their allowance.

Use a clear commit message. Its first line tells the creator what changed for the player.

Read the live room without a browser: GET https://www.spawn.co/api/sdk/v1/<worldId>/agent/rooms · logs; POST https://www.spawn.co/api/sdk/v1/<worldId>/agent/exec with {"script":"return api.query({tags:[\"enemy\"]}).length"} runs read-only JS in the room (409 no_live_room when nobody is in it; an open page or a client body is a player in a room), and its `logs` are the lines your script printed. PUT https://www.spawn.co/api/sdk/v1/<worldId>/assets/<name> puts a file of yours — a .glb body, a texture, a sound, a video (.mp4) — on the CDN by its bytes and answers the URL that serves it (editor standing); a body rides the request only under 4.5 MB, and a bigger file goes by address through POST https://www.spawn.co/api/sdk/v1/<worldId>/assets/upload-target (https://www.spawn.co/llms.txt spells the three calls).

Build, test, and share

Publish when the game is ready for players. Share its play link so friends can join.
