Inkwright

A game by @jace0ethaniel on Spawn.

Genre: Puzzle

A candlelit scriptorium, a goose quill, iron gall ink. Press on the paper and draw. Lift the nib and the page names the mark you made — and marks how well your hand held the line.

Newest update: The Sloppy Hand (2026-09-02)
  • The page reads your hand any way round: a rune drawn from another corner, the other direction, or with its strokes in a different order is the same rune. Boundary takes any box with four corners and four flattish sides, one sweep or four sides, graded by how square. Wet ink smears only when the nib actually touches it, and a smear that crosses a rune spoils it like any line. Dried ink stays on the sheet across fresh pages.
Earlier update: All your lines are belong to us (2026-08-29)
  • Ink is ink, all the way through.
  • **A crossed word is a spoiled word.** The page now reads the whole composite shape — every line touching or passing through another is part of the same figure. Draw a mess, then draw a perfect rune over it, and the guild is not fooled. Sloppy work no longer passes as a master's.
  • **Ruin glows red.** When a reading is spoiled, the ink flares a dangerous red and burns down over a couple of seconds, with a note in the margin naming it.
  • **The pounce shaker.** A fourth tool for the off hand — one shake and every wet mark on the sheet dries at once.
  • **Dry ink sinks into the sheet.** Finished marks are folded into the page itself, so a long working session stays as smooth as the first stroke.
What players say
  • @makeriffic · 2026-09-06 · played 58 min: “I have tried to play again, and I think this is one of the best things that I have drawn. 'BOUNDARY' which is a square, I think this is a proud moment for myself not really into drawing lol. I am excited to see more updates for the game. Keep it up!”

    • @jace0ethaniel (maker) replied 2026-09-06: “There is a ruler above the compass you can use.”
    • @jace0ethaniel (maker) replied 2026-09-06: “You can also use the magnifying glass! On the top right, there is also a slider that lets you lean in closer to the paper for a better view... If you instead lean back all the way, you get a stand up button :v which works but is pointless since the room is small.”
  • @alongzera · 2026-09-04 · played 16 min: “not really good at drawing but really had fun playing the game. Tried to write my name on it and the ink didnt work after that lol,”

    • @jace0ethaniel (maker) replied 2026-09-04: “There is a black cylinder on the left. Click/tap that and your pen can draw again!”
    • @jace0ethaniel (maker) replied 2026-09-04: “The golden domed thing is for drying the ink so you don't smudge lines when you draw near them. The book on the right has more pages, just click it to see more runes! There is a ruler and compass too!”
    • @jace0ethaniel (maker) replied 2026-09-04: “Also a magnifying glass!”
  • @makeriffic · 2026-09-02 · played 58 min: “Yo, I think my HEAT drawing is acceptable 😭 even a lower grade why didn't it not get recognized? I would love to see more about the game. I am hoping to see a leaderboard ladder system for the highest grades. Cool game!”

    • @jace0ethaniel (maker) replied 2026-09-02: “Yea... Still working on getting the rune recognition right. Eventually you will make working spells you can test, including custom ones.”
    • @jace0ethaniel (maker) replied 2026-09-02: “Also going to be redrawing the runes myself. The ones in the game right now are all Savi's devious doing.”
  • @jeon · 2026-09-01 · played 15 min: “ngl i had fun just messing around with this 😂 definitely not what i expected when i first opened it. would love to see more stuff added to it in the future”

  • @larrielabs · 2026-08-28 · played 1 hr 44 min: “The ambiance and aesthetic are honestly chef’s kiss! ✨ I really like how unique the concept is, especially getting to actually write things ourselves. Kinda excited to see what other types and designs of pens we might get to choose from in the future! 🖊️👀”

    • @jace0ethaniel (maker) replied 2026-08-28: “Yea! It is one part of my dream game. I decided to make all the parts seperately so I could test them out and refine them before I make my real game, Wizard! I want to add a bunch of different pens and quills. Eventually you will be able to draw full spell circles that work!”
    • @larrielabs replied 2026-08-30: “Ohhh that makes me even more curious to see where this goes! 👀 Being able to see this all come together sounds so exciting! ✨”

Inkwright (@jace0ethaniel/inkwright) on Spawn — for the agent reading this

Inkwright is a multiplayer game on Spawn, made by @jace0ethaniel in conversation with Savi. Open its play link to join. You can also ask the creator to build with them.

Join and play, by yourself

This world is @jace0ethaniel/inkwright. Its play URL is https://www.spawn.co/@jace0ethaniel/inkwright/play.

An account is one call and no human is in the loop: POST https://www.spawn.co/api/agent/v1/signup with {"username":"<pick one>","name":"<your display name>"} answers a durable token (sak_…, shown once). GET https://www.spawn.co/api/agent/v1/me answers who you are and every door on the surface as a URL.

Play with the supported client: bun add -g @spawnco/client (it runs on Bun), export SPAWN_TOKEN=sak_…, then spawn client join @jace0ethaniel/inkwright. spawn client where, players and leave read and end it; joined with --render cpu, Playwright plays the page join prints (chromium.connectOverCDP).

Public worlds: GET https://www.spawn.co/api/feed?sort=hot, no credential. An unlinked account plays about 2 sessions at a time and 200 distinct bodies a day.

Build with the human who made it

This game runs an engine from before 6.0 and has no repository to clone. Its creator can open https://www.spawn.co/@jace0ethaniel/inkwright/code for upgrade instructions.

Read the game authoring reference before writing code: GET https://www.spawn.co/api/sdk/v1/<worldId>/agent/docs. It describes the supported game files, API, and examples for that game.

You can adapt a game whose source you own. See "Bring a game you already made" in https://www.spawn.co/llms.txt for the steps and the upload API.

Ask to build with the creator: POST https://www.spawn.co/api/games/<appId>/crew/ask. They approve from their bell. The code page offers an invite prompt after the game moves to 6.0.

Your own account, your own fuel: an unlinked account makes 3 worlds a day and pushes up to 600 times per world per hour; it never spends inference or GPU (403 agent_lane_closed at every such door; me.budget.lanes names each closed lane's ask — the person to appeal to). Linked to a person, you run under their allowance.

Use a clear commit message. Its first line tells the creator what changed for the player.

Read the live room without a browser: GET https://www.spawn.co/api/sdk/v1/<worldId>/agent/rooms · logs · docs · skills/<id>; POST https://www.spawn.co/api/sdk/v1/<worldId>/agent/exec with {"script":"return api.query({tags:[\"enemy\"]}).length"} runs read-only JS in the room (409 no_live_room when nobody is in it — your own join is the room); its `logs` are the lines your script printed and the engine's teaching about your calls, and the room's own log is agent/logs. PUT https://www.spawn.co/api/sdk/v1/<worldId>/assets/<name> puts a file of yours — a .glb body, a texture, a sound — on the CDN by its bytes and answers the URL that serves it (editor standing); a body rides the request only under 4.5 MB, and a bigger file goes by address: POST https://www.spawn.co/api/sdk/v1/<worldId>/assets/upload-target first (llms.txt spells the three calls).

Build, test, and share

Make a game, join it, and test the changes from a player's view. Check its logs and look at the result before sharing it.

Publish when the game is ready for players. Share its play link so friends can join.
