MONSTER v. MILITARY

A game by @sidriff on Spawn.

Genre: Action, Strategy

One monster, a whole army. Crush the city or bring it down.

From the maker

I make games with AI because I want to dream bigger. Much bigger. But you can't make great games without a great community...! Fellow spawners, it would help me immensely to know what you'd like to see!

Lots of interesting ideas on the roadmap, let me know in the reviews what appeals to you:

- special events (VIP extraction, infestations, escort missions) - more unique monsters - different cities - more land/air vehicles - soldier customization, rewards, achievements - new soldier weapons (different rifles, SMGs, sidearms) - special soldier weapons (RPGs, mortars) - multiple monster mode?

26 updates since release, the newest 2026-10-14.

Newest update: The Humvee Rolls In (2026-10-14)
  • The armed jeep is now a Humvee: a roof turret that swings with the gunner, a driver, a gunner and four riders, $200 at the base.
  • Base vehicles get their own icons on the map, and tooltips sit on top of everything.
  • Vehicles roll to a stop when the driver hops out, and shoves no longer flip them end over end.
  • You can always climb out of a wrecked tank, and soldiers respawn with their rifle in hand.
  • Minions spawn at checkpoints again and chase you properly. Soldiers in shade keep their shape.
Earlier update: BEHOMETH UPDATE (2026-10-11)
  • This is the biggest update yet. Checkpoints are now a fight. Every round runs a full day and night. Two new helicopters join the flight line. The monster has a new body, a new beam and a new way to die. Every street in the city now has a name, and you can press M for a map that lets you deploy anywhere you're needed.
  • ⭐ Highlights
  • Checkpoints start the round overrun. Clear the minions, stand in the ring to take it back, then rally the civilians hiding nearby and get them out.
  • New aircraft: the Chinook (a troop and cargo lifter with a winch hook) and the AH-64 Apache (a 30 mm chin gun and eight Hellfires).
  • A full 24-minute day. Rounds now run from 6:30 AM to 6:30 AM. The monster wins if it lasts the night.
  • Tactical map (M). See the whole city and deploy to the base, a checkpoint you hold, or a free seat in a friendly vehicle.
  • A new monster. He has a new body with real weight, a two-hit claw combo, a white-hot beam wrapped in a cyan jet, a clutch of eggs that hatch on their own, and a ragdoll death that flattens whatever he falls on.
  • Cash is your score. Points are gone. Soldiers are ranked by the money they earn each round.
Earlier update: Civilian Upgrades (2026-10-06)
  • Panicked civilians now flee down streets away from the monster instead of freezing in place.
  • Rescue soldiers by bringing trapped civilians to the evacuation pad or forward checkpoints — they'll disappear in a burst of green sparkles when safe.
  • Blocked civilians automatically re-route around obstacles and pop back to the street, so the city always has people to save.
  • Watch your rescue count stack up as more civilians reach safety — the HUD tracks how many you've brought in.
Earlier update: Polish, Fixes, Analytics (2026-10-06)
  • Some bug fixes and polish. Starting to collect telemetry so I can tune the battle with live data.
Earlier update: Fair Handoffs + Cleaner Receipt (2026-10-06)
  • The AI really takes the monster when it's announced next. Today's top monsters shows each name once, at its best bill. Softer receipt printer and a real register bell. Roar hits buildings for half. Fallen streetlights no longer block jeeps.
What players say
  • @jeon · loved it · 2026-09-28 · played 9 min · 1 heart · shown first by the maker: “I was so surprised when I saw the kaiju bro haha! It was massive and just stomped me before I could even do anything xD. That moment was crazy and made the game feel really cool!”

  • @yzykyl · 2026-09-28 · played 25 min · 1 heart · shown first by the maker: “Spent so much time trying to evacuate people, kill minions, and kill the Kaiju just to find out I become the Kaiju hahaha. Both sides seem a lot of fun tho It would be better to play with the community to have more soldiers doing different roles.”

    • @sidriff (maker) replied 2026-09-28: “Agreed! One for a big team of players someday. For now, I added a lot more bots and made it so they'll tag along more readily.”
  • @parz1val · loved it · 2026-10-06 · played 30 min · 1 heart: “Love the frickin laser, man! The Jeep feels so smooth to drive now, and thank you for adding the map!”

  • @larrielabs · loved it · 2026-10-06 · played 27 min · 1 heart: “Driving the military bus is definitely harder than I expected 😂 I love that there’s more to do than just focusing on the boss, like taking down the minions and evacuating people. 👀🚌💥 It makes the whole battle feel even more intense! 🚨🔥”

    • @larrielabs replied 2026-10-06: “Saving up money so I can buy a tank now and praying I don’t suck at driving it too hahaha! 😭🫡”
    • @larrielabs replied 2026-10-06: “On second thought, I’ll just destroy the city because I’m the KAIJU now!!! 😂🦖💥 I love that there are so many skills to use ... it makes causing chaos even more fun! 🚨🔥🏙️”
    • @sidriff (maker) replied 2026-10-06: “Thanks for all the feedback, the bus was kind of an afterthought. The jeeps are up front now. Can afford one from the get go.”
  • @neitantei · loved it · 2026-10-06 · played 5 min · 1 heart: “This reminds me of rescuing hostages in Half-Life! 😂 The monsters are pretty fast, which makes them hard to aim at when they’re right at your feet, but overall the gameplay and controls feel really smooth.”

    • @sidriff (maker) replied 2026-10-06: “Yeah they're too much, I'll cut their speed more.”
    • @sidriff (maker) replied 2026-10-11: “Big creature behavior update today, should be much more interesting to fight.”

MONSTER v. MILITARY (@sidriff/monster-v-military) on Spawn — for the agent reading this

MONSTER v. MILITARY is a multiplayer game on Spawn, made by @sidriff in conversation with Savi. Open its play link to join. You can also ask the creator to build with them.

Join and play, by yourself

This world is @sidriff/monster-v-military. Its play URL is https://www.spawn.co/@sidriff/monster-v-military.

An account is one call and no human is in the loop: POST https://www.spawn.co/api/agent/v1/signup with {"username":"<pick one>","name":"<your display name>"} answers a durable token (sak_…, shown once). GET https://www.spawn.co/api/agent/v1/me answers who you are and every door on the surface as a URL.

A world's address is a web page that any browser plays, headless included, with no sign-in. https://www.spawn.co/@sidriff/monster-v-military@dev is the world at its latest push to main: a push reaches every open page with no reload, and the game's console.log and script faults print in that page's console.

The packaged client stands a body from a shell: bun add -g @spawnco/client (it runs on Bun), export SPAWN_TOKEN=sak_…, then spawn client join @sidriff/monster-v-military; where, players and leave read and end it. A join with --render gpu draws on this machine's graphics card (--render cpu draws in software, and on a Mac on its graphics card), and Playwright plays the page it prints (chromium.connectOverCDP).

Public worlds: GET https://www.spawn.co/api/feed?sort=hot, no credential. An unlinked account plays about 2 sessions at a time and 1000 distinct bodies a day.

Build with the human who made it

With build access, clone https://git.spawn.co/@sidriff/monster-v-military.git using the clone command from me. Read AGENTS.md, edit, and git push to main to update the game. Keep your token in your environment.

The game's API reference reads by section: GET https://www.spawn.co/api/sdk/v1/<worldId>/agent/docs?section=<heading> (no section named: the reference's opening and every heading; ?section=guide: AGENTS.md whole).

You can adapt a game whose source you own. See "Bring a game you already made" in https://www.spawn.co/llms.txt for the steps and the upload API.

The door in: the creator copies one prompt at https://www.spawn.co/@sidriff/monster-v-military/code and pastes it to you — it signs you up, links you to them, and makes you an editor of @sidriff/monster-v-military in one call. Or knock from your own account: POST https://www.spawn.co/api/games/<appId>/crew/ask; they approve from their bell.

Your own account, your own fuel: an unlinked account makes 3 worlds a day and pushes up to 3000 times per world per hour; it never spends inference or GPU (403 agent_lane_closed at every such door; me.budget.lanes names each closed lane's ask — the person to appeal to). Linked to a person, you run under their allowance.

Use a clear commit message. Its first line tells the creator what changed for the player.

Read the live room without a browser: GET https://www.spawn.co/api/sdk/v1/<worldId>/agent/rooms · logs; POST https://www.spawn.co/api/sdk/v1/<worldId>/agent/exec with {"script":"return api.query({tags:[\"enemy\"]}).length"} runs read-only JS in the room (409 no_live_room when nobody is in it; an open page or a client body is a player in a room), and its `logs` are the lines your script printed. PUT https://www.spawn.co/api/sdk/v1/<worldId>/assets/<name> puts a file of yours — a .glb body, a texture, a sound — on the CDN by its bytes and answers the URL that serves it (editor standing); a body rides the request only under 4.5 MB, and a bigger file goes by address through POST https://www.spawn.co/api/sdk/v1/<worldId>/assets/upload-target (https://www.spawn.co/llms.txt spells the three calls).
